About Lauren

My biggest passions in life are sports and telling stories. I was very different from most of my female friends growing up in Los Angeles. While most girls I knew lived for shopping, I lived for watching and playing sports. My TV is always tuned to ESPN, Fox Sports, NBC Sports or whatever channel is showing the game, and never tuned to E! Network. When I was younger, I also loved acting and theatre. I went to a performing arts middle school and performed in many commercials and over 15 musical productions before I was 13. When it came time for high school, I was completely torn between continuing with performing arts magnet programs or going to a public school and playing sports.

Although I chose sports, I wanted to find a way to blend my interests. One day while watching a Los Angeles Kings game (fun fact: hockey is my favorite sport)  after water polo practice, I noticed that the team hired a woman named Heidi Androl to interview the players between periods and after the game. I didn't know who she was. I didn't know what her job title was. I just knew I wanted to be her. I knew my sports knowledge, I knew I was quick on my feet and I knew I loved telling a story. Ever since that moment, I have done everything in my power to pursue my dream of becoming a sports broadcaster.

When I am not watching sports, you will most likely find me working out or playing with my dog. I currently volunteer as a videography and photography specialist for Wags & Walks dog rescue helping them with their digital campaigns. I absolutely love animals, and I love living a fun and healthy lifestyle. I still love singing, acting and theatre, and I am an avid Jeopardy watcher. My personal interests may be vast and eclectic, but at the end of the day, I know I love to tell stories.

I am a proud alumnus of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree Broadcast/Sports Journalism. While at UT, I held two internships each summer as well as a full-year internship with Longhorn Network my junior year (check out the Resume tab!). Since graduating, I have help numerous positions in hopes of gaining experience in the sports world. I love all aspects of sports media from production, to writing, to digital media, to social media, to on-air reporting to marketing. My biggest hope is to make the rest of the world as moved, inspired, shocked and humbled by sports and athletes as I am every day.
